My husband likes to say that French cuisine is back again. And indeed it is nice with French food, even if often over complicated to cook. My first food memories is from the Riviera area, where I was based as consultant beginning of last decade. The best one of course not from tourist areas.

Last decade I've been eating good French food in my own part of Stockholm. Well, a couple of dinners and lunches has been enjoyed over at nowadays closed down Absinth Bar & Bistro. Best French today is Petit France. I've also visited some creperias in Stockholm, where 'Creperie fyra knop' is my favourite.

When I was about to invite some folks to my place the other day I naturally came into food ideas with French inspiration. What is more french and cooking friendly for kitchen amateurs than tarts with a French touch.

Best was probably the tart with anchovy and onion. The one with pine nuts was also great. And the vegetable one with fresh herbs was also nice. The cheese base in two of the tarts was Västerbotten cheese, and even if not French, really good in tarts. All tarts where made with inspiration from Anna Bergenström's 'Nya Annas Mat' and 'Annas pajjer'.

Some food bloggers with French theme that I follow, mostly for eye pleasure, are Chocolate & Zucchini, Tartelette, le blog de Sébastien (in Swedish) and Cannelle-et-Vanille. Please don't hesitate to let me know of others.

People seemed content and satisfied. And as usual (after parties over at my place) there where plenty left overs. Which we had good use of in picnics the following days in the fabulous sommer heat.

On the dessert table where what I just felt making. Have been curious about cup cakes, so I made some. (Though not nearly as curious as I've been about making macaroons. But they seem way more complex. As said. About French cuisine.) And it's always nice with a really chocolate rich cake, with whipped cream.

The recipes I googled the day before. Cup Cakes with Creme Cheese Frosting (Leila Lindholm) with endlessly lots of icing sugar (10 dl (!) for 24 muffins). Comparisons showed it's about the equal amount in other equivalent recipes. I exchanged the vanilla sugar with real vanilla pod. And there was nothing left of the chocokate cake (Nigella Lawson), with two and a half bars of chocolate by Anthon Berg.

Found some fun decorations for the desserts. Children and youngsters had seen the cup cakes already when arriving to the party so they barely run to the dessert table when it was time. And most of the folks actually finished them too. But I do recommend maximum one per day due to the sugar dose.

The day after I gathered stuff I had received, also by post. The gifts where with focus on well being, just as I had wished for. It was flowers and -checks, champagne and chocolate, massage treatments, luxuary slippers, home spa products and other cozineas etc. Thank you all lovely.

Mmmm .... det var gott!
Very nice pictures. I love the one with desserts (choux à la crème ?). Yummy !
French cuisine can be simple. Quiche Lorraine, Gratin Dauphinois or Boeuf Bourguignon are great recipes for the whole family. The simplest alternative is Croque-Monsieur served with French fries...
