Having fun while getting there

Det brukar vara mycket som ska fixas så här innan julafton. Men vi försöker i alla fall anpassa oss till den nivån vi klarar av med tre barn. Ha trevligt på vägen dit, med kul julpyssel varje dag. Det börjar faktiskt kännas jul här i vårt lilla hem.

There's often lots to do before Christmas eve (the day when we eat Christmas food and Santa Claus visits us, here in Sweden.) But we try at least to adapt to what we can cope with now with three children. To have a good time on our journey there, with fun Christmas activities each day. It's starting to feel Christmas actually in our little home.


Snölek är så kul, tycker barnen. Möjligheterna är många i en snövärld. När papa ger sig in i vinterleken blir det förstås extra kul. Väl inne i värmen är det gott med snabblagade ugnspannkakor. Vi använde: 1 liter mjölk, 4 ägg, nypa salt och 5 dl mjöl. Som vi vispade ihop och gräddade i ugnsplåt i 225 grader tills den fick bra färg (ca 30 min). Vi klippte bitar och serverade med sylt.

Our children loves to play with snow. The possibilities are many in a snowy world. When papa is in the winter game it's of course extra fun. Well indoors again it tastes well with quick made owen baked panncakes. We used: 1 litre milk, 4 eggs, a pinch salt and 5 dl flour. That we wisked together and baked on a paking plate in 225 degrees until it had a nice colour (about 30 mins). We cut pieces and served with jam.

Pepparkakshus är nästan en julinstitution här. Hon satt tyst och sammabiten i en halvtimme. då hon dekorerade huset. Hon sa att hon ville att det ska bli så bra som möjligt. Ungefär som min far sa om hur han tar sig an saker; alltid så bra som möjligt. Dessa ord har etsat sig fast i mitt minne. Mellansonen tog sig tid att smaka lite av dekorationen, samtidigt som han dekorerade så fint. Delarna till pepparkaksuhuset är från Annas. Bara för att spara tid.

Gingerbread cookie house is almost a Christmas institution here. She sat quiet and resolute for half an hour, when she decorated the house. She said she wanted to make it so nice as possible. Almost like my father said about how to do things; always in the best way. His words are etched in my mind. Middle son took his time to taste of the decorations, at the same time as he decorated so nicely. Parts to the gingerbread cookie house is from Annas. Just to save time.
