The art of macaroons

Klara in the making of our pink macaroons
Macaroon course with baker Mia Öhrn

Gosh, Klara and I've made our first own macaroons. We've been on a course with merry and qute baker Mia Öhrn. What would you say about pink macaroons with raspberry and white chocolate filling? Or blue macaroons with blueberry marmelade filling? Mia tought us the secrets behind great macaroons. So now we can bake these small tricky french luxuary pastries.

Blueberry marmelade filling

First batch was with eggwhites from a big can and ready grained almonds. Then we made our own almond powder from whole almonds and we used egg whites from normal eco eggs. The first batch wasn't so successful, with a nice "hat" but the surface cracked. The blue ones was really great looking on the other hand, and really good. We also made the fillings, from scartch and they became really tasty. Best way to store is in the bottom of the frigde, but tomorrow we'll be enjoying a macaroonparty here at home.
