Sleepy's knitting

Igår drog jag igång rensning i hemmet med stora bokstäver. Maken undrade häpet var jag fick min energi ifrån. Annars är jag så utmattad nu för tiden att jag somnar tidigat om kvällarna. Missar stickmys och avkopplande chit-chattande med maken. På jobbet finns dock ljusning inom räckhåll i form av en konsult som tagits in för att avlasta IT-avdelningen. Än så länge handlar det mest om upplärning, men snart är han igång och jag kan andas i jämnare tempo. Bara den där förbenade micron kunde komma snart och draget vid min plats kunde fixas så kan man ju börja snacka arbetsplats...

Yesterday I started clearing out the home "with capital letters". Husband wondered astonished where I got my energy from. Othewise I'm so exhausted now adays that I fall asleep early in the evenings. I miss cozy knitting and relazing chit chatting with my husband. At work I see some improvement though since a consultant has arrived with the mission of giving support to the IT-department. So far it's mostly about training him up, but soon he´s up and running and I can start breathing evenly. If just that darn micro could arrive soon and that draught at my place can be fixed and we can start speaking workplace....

Har hittat en massa sjyssta coolla bloggar och dessa KALs att lägga till min bloglines lista. Annars, stickmässigt, har det mest handlat om att repa upp. Erkänner att det beror på att jag är petig. Mudden ville helt enkelt inte se ut som på den första ärmen. Eftersom det såg lösare ut jobbade jag på stickfastheten tills jag insåg att det var nystanet som var orsaken till mitt problem, det var både ljusare och började i ett grövre parti. Idag fortsätter stora höststädningen men om jag har energi över ska jag minsann stickmysa ikväll.

Have found alot of awesome cool blogs and these KAL's to add to my blogline list. Otherwise my knitting's been mostly about ripping up. I admit it depends on my finickity. The garther sticth just didn't look like on the first sleeve. Since it looked looser I worked on the gauge until I realized that the skein was the reason to my problem, it was both less intense and thicher in the first part. Today the big autumn cleaning continues but if I have some energy left I will have a cozy knitting evening.

Tack för nyttigt råd laptitelili i kommentarerna! Även om jag ibland inte kan hålla mig och försöker övertyga fransmännen om sånt som är självklart för oss svenskar så kan jag ju tänka på att även visa på lite diplomati. Kommer definitivt trycka lite extra på hur fantastisk företaget är och hur glad jag är över min roll där nästa gång jag snackar med managern.

Even if I sometimes can't keep from convincing the French guys of things that are obvious for us Swedes I will keep in mind to also on show some diplomacy. I will definitely emphasize a bit extra on how fantastic the company is and how glad I am about having my role there.

Långpromenad på hösten är mysigt. Leo älskade att springa på gräset över höstlöven.

Long promenades in the autumn is cozy. Leo loved to run on the grass over the autumn leaves.
Mitt i parken låg det en fasligt massa päron. Vem kunde ha dumpat dem här? Vi kisade upp mot bladverket högt upp i det kraftiga tallhöga trädet som stod invid päronen. Det var ett päronträd!

In the middle of the park was a heck och a lot of pears. Who could have dumped them here? We tried to see what was among the leaves on top of the very tall pine like tree. It was a pear tree!

Autumn Cozy

Äntligen helg, efter ännu en stressig jobbvecka. Fransmännen har visserligen börjat inse att nordbor går hem redan vid 17-tiden. Kanske för att vi inte uppskattar livet på jobbet lika mycket som familjen och fritiden. Eller snarare för att vi kommer in till kontoret vid 8-tiden till skillnad från runt 9 som är sed på Kontinenten. Min frustration beror istället på att jag har för mycket att göra. Dels behöver kontoret och alla nyanställda komma igång men framför allt måste själva kärnverksamheten upprättas. Ser lite ljusning då jag kommer få lite mer avlastning från de förra uppgifterna nästa vecka.

At last it's weekend, after another stressful work week. The French guys have finally started to realize that people up here in the north leaves work at 17. Perhaps because we don't apprechiate work as much as family and spare time. Or, rather since we come to the office a 8 instead of 9 which is custom in the Continent. My frustration is instead dependent on work over load. First we need to get the office and the newly recruited staff going but more important we need to get the business running. I see some 'light in the tunnel' since I will be able to devote more time to the core processes from next week.
Väl hemma passar jag på att ta igen missad tid med barnen och vice versa. Varvar ner bäst just nu gör jag ackompangnerat av grekmusik av Anna Vissi såsom Erotevmenaki, som värmer ända in i höstfrusna själen, medan jag stickar på Cobblestone tröjjan till maken.

Well at home I use my leasure time to catch up what I've missed with the kids and vice versa. My best chill out currently is Anna Vissi's greek style music, for example Erotevmenaki, that warms up my autumn cold soul and to knit on the Cobblestone pullover to husband.

Voilá, Candle Flame or Forest Moss!

Efter nästan två nystan Malabrigo Lace är jag både nöjd och färdig med mitt Candle Flame sjalsprojekt. Det finns visserligen garn kvar till ytterligare någon mönsterupprepning men nu vill jag börja sticka på något nytt.

After almost two skeins of Malabrigo Lace I feel both satisfied and through with my Candle Flame shawl project. There was yarn for one or more pattern repeats but now I rather start knitting on something new.
Den här Candle Flame kommer troligen mest användas ihopknörvlad som halsduk. Närmast halsen då Malabrigo Lace är helt fantastiskt mjuk. Vet inte om det är färgen eller mönsret som gör att sjalen påminner om skogsmossa.

My Candle Flame will most probably be used carlessely wrapped around the neck like a scarf. Really close against the skin as it is so incredibly soft. I am not sure if it is the colour or the pattern that makes the shawl resemble of forest moss.
Interweave Knits prenumerationen var slut, som anat. En ny 5-nummers beställning har lagts in men med det oväntade beskedet att höstnumret är slut. Vilket tur att press-stop har kvar lösnummer då nästa stickprojekt är tänkt resultera i Cobblestone tröjjan.

My Interweave Knits subscrition had ended just as I sensed. I put a order on a new 5 issue subscription but with the unexpected respons that the autumn issue was finished. Luckily press-stop had some issues cause my next knitting project is supposed to result in a Cobblestone pullover.
Har börjat rådda lite i min Ravelry profil, mamatherapy. Lade till lite bilder och information på färdiga stickprojekt. Då jag klickar på något jag stickat finns möjlighet att se andra Ravelrystickares versioner av samma stickprojekt. Eller andra stickprojekt av samma designer, eller projekt i samma garn jag använt o s v. Det tycker jag är fancy!

Have worked a little on my Ravelry profile, mamatherapy. Added some photos and information on finished knitting projects. When I klick on something that I have knitted it ispossible to see other Ravelry knitters versions of the same knitting project. Or other knitting projects by the same designer or projects that has used the same yarn as I have and so on. I think that's kind of fancy!

IK where are you?

Jobbsituationen känns lite lättare, det kommer nytt folk varje vecka vilket betyder större avlastning för mig och möjlighet att fokusera en aning mer på mina faktiska framtida uppgifter. Pionjärandan delas av de flesta vilket givetvis är avgörande, och jag upplever att jag får uppskattning för det jag sliter med vilket ju kan kännas bra.

The job situation feels a bit easier, new people arrive every week which releases a bit of the workig pressure and makes it a tiny bit easier to fokus on my actual future tasks. The pioneering spirit is shared by most of the people which is crucial, and I sense I get appreciation which can fell fine of course.
Mitt garn till Cobblestone tröjjan väntar på att komma till användning. Men det tycks som att min Interweave Knits prenumeration är slut. Buhu. Eller är leveransen bara sen? Någon mer som fortfarande väntar på sitt höstnummer?

My yarn for the Cobblestone pullover is waiting to come to use. But it seems like my Interweave Knits subscription has ended. Buhu. Or is the delivery just late? Someone else who's still waiting for the autumn number?
Oh, jag har spanat in en supersjysst höstkofta, Imogen. Men, tycker kanske att garnet Aran Alpaca av Fleece Artists verkar lite väl dyrt. Färgerna verkar helt underbara och har hört att garnet är supermjukt. Viktiga parametrar för mig. Men 99 Dolares... Det är ju vad en kofta på dyra gatan kostar. Färdig. Hur mycket kan man lägga på garn för en kofta? Någonstans vill jag känna att jag faktiskt "tjänar" på att sticka. Men samtidigt försöker jag att intala mig att en "hobby" faktiskt får kosta. Svåra frågor det där, hmm? Speciellt när garn-stashen inte är helt tom så att säga. Men mönstret har jag i alla fall passat på att inhandla...

Ah, I've discovered the most gorgeous autumn cardi, Imogen. But, the yarn Aran Alpaca by Fleece Artists seems a bit on the expensier side. The colours are absolutely wonderful and I've heard that the yarn is super soft. Really important parameters for me. But 99 Dolares... That's what a cardi costs on "the expensive street". Ready to be used. How much can one put on yarn for a cardi? Somehow I want to "earn" on what I knit. But at the same time I try to tell myself that a "hobby" actually is allowed to cost. Difficult questions, eh? Especially when the yarn stash isn't quite empty. But anyhow I've purchased the pattern...

About a mamas return to working life...

Här jobbas det på, har snart jobbat en månad på nya jobbet. Det känns rätt slitigt att komma från mammaledigheter och studier till jobbvärlden. Speciellt till en miljö som ännu mest är en byggarbetsplats där väggar byggs, sladdar hänger ner från taket och inte ens mikro finns. Men det som känns mest utmanande just nu är faktiskt att trivas med folk på jobbet. De flesta är väldigt trevliga, inklusive chefer, och jag har även hittat godingar att fika med. Men jag berörs mer illa än någonsin av människor som strävar efter någon sorts position i konkurrens mot någon inbillad "annan", är ytliga och hala. Ja, jag vet jag är en social känslomänniska som tar åt mig personligt. Men jag är också driven och intresserad av att göra kul saker på jobbet. Men jag ser ingen motsägelse i att man är hjärtlig och ärlig och kan komma upp sig genom att göra ett bra arbete.

Soon I've been working one month on my new job. It feels hard to come back from maternity leaves and studies to the job world. Especially since I'm currently in an environment that is more of a building place, where walls are built, wires hanging from the roof and there isn't even a microwave oven. But the worst challenge currently is to enjoy working together with people at the office. Most people are really nice, including the bosses, and I've even found really sweet people to "fika" with. But nowadays I feel really uncomfortable by people who are striving after some kind of position agains some imaginative "others", are shallow and slippery. Well, I know I am a social and emotional person who takes things to heart. But I'm also driven and interested in doing fun things at work. But I don't see it as a contradiction to be whole hearted and honest and still being able to being promoted to "higher positions" through doing a good job.
Men jag inser att jag inte kommer att kunna göra så mycket mer än ett bra jobb då min prioritet i valet mellan karriär och familj tveklöst faller på det senare. Att komma übertidigt eller sitta kvar lite extra sent är inte självklart. Mitt jobb innebär ett fåtal resor under året och de dagarna blir ändå extra sena. Men säg det till fransmän som gärna bokar in möten kl 16 på fredageftermiddagar. Det ska bli intressant att se hur förväntningarna på oss blir från huvudkontoret i Paris och i vilken utsträckning vi i Sverige kommer att kunna påverka vår jobbsituation.

But I realise that I won't be able to do very much more than a good job as my priorities of natural reasons currently is on the (small childrens) family, before the career. To come über early in the morning to work or to stay extra late is not realistic. My job requires a few travels during the year and these days are going to be extra long anyways. But tell that to the French people who don't hesitate to book a meeting at 16 on a Friday afternoon, while Swedes typically start to go home at this hour. It's going to be interesting to see what the expectations on us will be from the head office in Paris and to what extent we in Sweden will be able to influence our job situation.
Stickandet förnärvarande handlar mest om att drömma om framtida stickprojekt. Vad sägs exempelvis om den supersjyssta Norah Gaughan halsduken på bilden ovan ihop med mitt Jaeger Extra Fine Merino Aran? Jobbresestickningen, Candle Flame sjalen, växer långsamt, är ännu inne på första nystanet men det kommer definitivt att behövas ett till.

Knitting wise I'm mostly dreaming of future projects. What about the super gorgeous Norah Gaughan scarf on the picture above together with my Jaeger Extra Fine Merino Aran? My travel knitting, the Candle Flame shawl, is growing slowly. I'm still on my first skein but the shawl will definitely need one more.

Job related

Inte mycket bloggat senaste tiden. Har nytt jobb igen. Det blev endast en månads karriär på förra stället innan jag sa upp mig för drömjobbet. Efter en klämmånad är jag nu delaktig i uppstarten av ett stort franskt företag som håller på att etablera sig i Norden. Det känns spännande och handlar till en början om att ta tag i allt möjligt och nästan omöjligt som egentligen ligger utanför min roll. Det kommer definitivt att vara en upplevelse!

Not much blogging lately. I have a new job again. Just one months career at the previous place before I quit for a dream job. After one month in-between-jobs I'm now part of a start-up of a large French company's Nordic subsidiary. It is exciting and in the beginning I'll do all kinds of possible and almost impossible things which actually isn't part of my role. It's definitely going to be an experience!

New yarn, Skye Tweed in the colour 1243, will become a Cobblestone by Jared Flood from Interweave Knits autumn issue for my husband. It will be the first sweater I make for him. Perhaps it's going to be my next travel knitting?
Det här är mitt nuvarande tunnelbane- och busssticke till och från jobbet. Det ska bli en Candle Flame i Malabrigo Lace i färgen Olive. Jag stickar sjalen med tre maskor emellan lågorna istället för två så att den ska växa bättre på bredden enligt tips från Anna, som snart skriver på egen stickblogg. Ser jag fram emot!

This is my current subway and bus knitting project to and form work. It will become a Candle Flame in Malabrigo Lace in the colour Olive. I will knit mine with three stitches between the flames instead of two to make it grow better in width according to at tip from Anna, who soon is writing in an own knitting blog. I look forward to that!

My Almodovar drama!

Ah, vi är äntligen tillbaka hemma igen! Semestern hos barnens farfar i Spanien blev inte riktigt som förväntat. Egentligen hade vi inte tänkt åka någonstans i år eftersom barnen är så små. Men så verkade farfar så ivrig och optimistisk och maken sugen på sol och vila. Bara någon dag innan avresan bestämde vi oss alltså ändå för att resa.

Ah, we're finally back home! The vacation at husbands fathers place in Spanien didn't really turn out as expected. Actually we where planning not to do any travelling this year since the children are still so small. But when grandfather seemed so eager and optimistic and husband felt so peckish for sun and rest we changed our minds. Just a couple of days before the departure we bought our tickets.
Men med facit i hand borde vi nog inte ha rest. Det blev faktiskt precis så illa som jag hade oroat mig för att det kunde bli, och lite värre. Eftersom vi befann oss i en främmande osäker miljö kunde jag inte stressa av och mådde ganska dåligt. I min mans öron var jag dessutom väldigt gnällig. Så inte nog med att den intensiva resan krävde mer i energi än om vi varit kvar hemma så hade maken och jag äkta familjegräl den sista dagen där t o m skilsmässa kom upp som ett ämne.

But with the key in my hand we shouldn't have made the trip. It actually turned out as bad as I had feared and a some more. Since I was in a foreign and insecure environment I couldn't really relax and felt pretty low. Besides, in my husbands ears I was a pain since he thought I was constantly whining. So not only did the intense trip take much more energy than if we had stayed at home but also did husband and I have a true family argument the last day where even divorce was a topic.

Väl hemma har vi diskuterat igenom resan och våra reaktioner. Faktiskt tror jag att vi lärt känna varandra bättre och hur vi ska interagera för att få en mer trivsam samvaro. Och det är ju i alla fall en trevlig bonus efter allt det jobbiga. Dessutom har värmeutslaget som Leo haft under resan nästan försvunnit över natten.

Back home we've discussed through the trip and our reactions. Actually I think that we learned to know each other better and how to interact in order to have a more comfortable time together. And that's a nice bonus after all the streanous. Also has Leo's heat related skin rash almost vanished över the night.

Varför var resan så jobbig, kan man ju undra? Ja, det var nog många parametrar som bidrog. Först upptäckte vi att farfar hade glasat in både verandan och balkongen på övervåningen, så att det naturliga draget, som makens mindes fanns i huset, hade ersatts med bastuliknande temperaturer. Det var troligen därför som Leo utvecklade det värmeutslag som inte ville avta med tiden, snarare tvärtom. Endast i köket fanns AC där vi också spenderade mesta tiden på dagarna, när vi inte tog oss till något inomhuscentrum med AC (och där det till Antheas glädje ibland fanns karuseller). Men med en kille som vill upptäcka världen medelst klättrande innebar det dock inte en lugn stund.

Why was the trip so straining one can think? I think there where many contributing factors. First we discovered that grandfather had covered the veranda and balcony upstairs with glass, so instead of the natural cross draught, that husbands had remembered, there where sauna like temperatures in the house. It was probably the main reason why Leo developed skin rash which didn't want to vanish with time, rather the opposite. Only in the kitchen was some AC, where we also spent most of our hours daytime unless we went to some shopping mall with AC (where to Anthea joy carouselles sometimes could be found). But with a little boy who wants to discover the world through climbing meant no calm moment at all for us.

Dessutom har farfar aldrig tidigare haft en flerbarnsbarnsfamilj boende hos sig och jag tror att det var överraskande jobbigt för honom. Det stöd som jag exempelvis hade väntat mig från honom när det gäller lek med barnen var inte att räkna med förrän sista dagarna av vår resa. Han hade även ganska dålig koll på vad som behövs med småbarn i huset. Även om han hade ansträngt sig och bland annat skaffat säkerhetsgrindar vid trapporna och bebissäng till Leo var ena grinden trasig och sängen saknade madrass. Bara för att nämna några exempel.

Also grandfather has never before had a family with several children staying over at his place which is why I think our visit was overwhelmingly tiring for him. The support I had expected from him for example when it comes to playing with the kids wasn't really there until the last days of our visit. Besides he didn't seem to have a good idea about what is necessary when small children's in the house. Even if he for example had made an effort to install safte gates by the stairs and bought a baby bed for Leo, one of the gate was broken when we arrived and the bed didn't have any mattress. Just to mention a few examples.

Som tur var verkade maken kunna slappna och njuta av tillvaron i Spanien. Även för Antheas del var semeterresan mest bara kul. Hon älskade att bada vid poolen och havet, att ta kvällspromenader och lukta på blommorna. Hon hade väldigt mycket sett fram emot att träffa sin farfar och var i hälarna på honom och försökte snacka med honom typ hela tiden. Hon var faktiskt mycket bra på att sysselsätta sig själv och hitta på små pyssel så hon verkade inte ha en tråkig stund. En dag hade hon exemplevis fyllt sin pappas sandal med snäckor som en present till honom som du kan se på en av bilderna nedan.

Luckily husband seemed to be able to relax and enjoy our stay in Spain. Also for Anthea the trip was mostly fun. She loved bathing at the pool and by the sea, making promenades in the evenings and smell the flowers. She had very much looked forward to seeing her grandfather and was after him and tried to talk to him constantly. Anthea was so good at keeping herself occupied and figured out stuff to do so she never seemed to have a boring moment. One day she had for example filled one of her fathers sandals with sea shells as a present for him which you can see in one of the pictures below.

När barnen somnat om kvällarna kunde jag andas ut och njuta av kvällsluften, ta en kvällpromenad eller bara sitta på verandan och sticka. Min resestickningen blev Drop Stitch Lace Tank ur Fitted Knits av Stephanie Japel som jag också lyckades avsluta under resan. Det gick åt knappt fem nystan, och du kan se färdiga toppen på bilderna i början av inlägget. Jag har ännu inte bestämt om jag ska lägga till knappar. Knapphålen syns dock inte så det är inte nödvändigt.

When the children had gone asleep in the evenings I could exhale and enjoy the evening breeze, make a evening promenade or just sit and knit on the veranda. The knitting on this trip was the Drop Stitch Lace Tank from Fitted Knits by Stephanie Japel which I also managed to finish. I used almost five skeins and you can see pictures of me wearing it in the beginning of this post. I still haven't decided if I want to put buttons on it. The button holes don't show so it's not really necessary.

Jag stickade toppen med rundstickor, ungefär minsta storleken. Mina mönsterupprepningar var ibland en rad mindre så sammantaget blev det en hel del extra upprepningar än i beskrivningen. Enda sömaden var axlarna med hjälp av vad som på engelska bland annat kallas för grafting. Det här var ett kul sticke, snabbt och tillräckligt stimulerande. Dessutom blev det en absolut nödvändig terapisyssla när jag var som mest sur eller ledsen.

I knitted the tank in the round, about the smallest size. My pattern repeats where sometimes one row less why I had to knit many more repeats than in the pattern. Only sewing was shoulders using grafting. This was a fun knit, fast and enough stimulating. Also it became my absolute necessary therapy project when I was most angry or sad.

Summer knitting!

Vi håller på att planera en tur till barnens farfar i Torrevieja i Spanien. Då måste man ha med sig någonting att sticka. Har således swatchat för en Drop Stitch Lace Tank ur boken Fitted Knits av Stephanie Japel i det rekommenderade garnet Cascade Pima Tencel. Och det ser lovande ut.

We are planning to visit the childrens grandfather in Torrevieja in Spain. So I will need some knitting projects to bring there. So I've swatched for the Drop Stitch Lace Tank in Fitted Knits by Stephanie Japel in the recommended yarn Cascade Pima Tencel. And it looks promising.

En tid sen handlade jag en hög med Rowan Summer Tweed i färgen Ghost till fyndpris. Hade nämligen planer på att sticka Brilliant Retro i någon sorts silkesblandning. Insåg dock efter lite swatchande att det inte skulle funka. Så jag släppte det. Men nu har jag möjligen hittat ett alternativ. Här nämligen sett att Bumble Bee Knits stickar på en BR i en silkesblandning med samma masktäthet som mönstrets rekommenderade garn. Jag väntar nu andäktigt på att se hennes framsted med den vackra koftan. Har också spanat in Grumperinas BR som också är stickad i en silkesblandning, dock med mindre masktäthet. Och det är ju lite läskigt.

A while ago I bargained a huge pile of Rowan Summer Tweed in the colour Ghost. I had plans to knit Brilliant Retro i någon sorts silkesblandning. But realised after some swatching that this yarn wasn't right. Now I might have found an alternative! Bumble Bee Knits is knitting on a BR in a silk blend with the same yardage as the recommended yarn for the pattern. So now I'm full of expectations and looking forward to seeing her progres with her beautiful cardi. Also I've spotted Grumperina's BR which is also knitted in some sort of silk blend, though with a more dense yardage. And that's a bit scary.

Hur som helst, nu har jag istället hittat det perfekta mönstret för mitt Summer Tweed, nämligen Dawn. Har börjat på bakstycket, och det är några centimeter kvar till ärmformningen. Det doftar så ljuvligt av silket i garnet medan jag stickar att det är en fröjd att pyssla med den här koftan.

However, now I've found The perfect pattern for my Summer Tweed, namely Dawn. Have started on the back, and there's a few centimeters until the arm shaping. It scents so beautifully of the silk while knitting, it's a glorious knitting experience!

What to do on a rainy summer day?

Jamen, vem hittar vi i tomatplantan om inte Crazy Babe herself? Hon har ännu inte fått något riktigt namn men väl lite värmande stickade plagg, gjorda av garnrester från det här och det här projektet. Och det kan ju behövas en regnig sommardag som denna.

Weeelll, who do we find climbing in the tomato plant if not Crazy Babe herself? She still hasn't got a name but yet some warming knitted garments, from scraps from this and this project. And that can be nice to have on a rainy sommarday like this.

Förresten, när maken såg bilden ovan mumlade han något i likhet med att: du håller väl inte på att transformeras till Staffan Westerberg nr 2 eller nåt? Men varför inte, han är cool tycker jag! Vad tycker du själv om Staffan Westerberg?

When husband saw the picture above he mumbled something like: you're not turning into (the Swedish director, writer and actor) Staffan Westerberg nr 2, are you? Why not, the man is cool I think! (But note that there are loads of people in Sweden who grew up in the 70s who actually claims they've become 'traumatised' by this mans childrens TV-programs.)

Crazy Babe!

Det är väl bara att sno ihop en Knitted Babe, tänkte jag, efter att ha spanat in coola Babes i blogland. (Gratismönster finns här.)

I thought it would be easy peasy to make a Knitted Babe after seeing all those cool Babes in blogland. (Free pattern here.)
För mig tog det dock en hel del tid, inte minst med att fixa håret. Men nu är min första babe i alla fall klar och jag är rätt nöjd med slutresultatet.

It took a while for me actually for example fixing the hair. But now my first babe is done though and I'm pretty happy with the result.
För några dagar sedan när jag skulle överraska dottern med den nya dockan blev hon minst sagt förvånad. Hon gav bara ifrån sig ööhh-ljud och himlade med ögonen, men sa inget riktigt.

A couple of days ago when I was going to surprise my daughter with the new doll she just said ööhhh and rolled with her eyes, and said nothing real.
Jag försökte hjälpa henne på traven och med ett leende frågade några gånger om hon tyckte att dockan är ful? Men hon bara fortsatte att öhha. Så jag försökte med att om hon tyckte dockan är fin? Och då fick jag till slut en respons. Hon utbrast att "Den är galen!" och upprepade det några gånger. Och vi brast ut i skratt.

I tried to help her out and with a smile I asked her a coulpe of times if she thought the doll was ugly? But she just continued to öööhh. So I tried with if she thought the doll is nice? And finally I got a respons. She burst into a "It is crazy!" and repeated it a few times. And we burst out into laughtering.
För visst kan man tänka sig att en babe med sina spaghettiarmar och spaghettiben och jättehuve med stora ögon ser ut som en alien i en knappt treårings värld.

Cause surely one can imagine a babe with it's spaghetti arms and legs and mega head and large eyes looks like an alien in an almost three year old's world.
Nu har hon i alla fall kommit över den första chocken och leker mer än gärna med sin babe och tycker faktiskt mest att den är fin!

However, now she has gotten over the first chock and loves to play with it and actually mostly finds it beautiful!

Celebrations

Igår firade vi min första semesterkvällen med att käka pizza på PrimoCiaoCiao. Med hade maken en födelsedagspresent i form av mönster-/garnkitet SAL, som är en design av Kim Hargreaves.

Yesterday we celebrated my first vacationsevening with a pizza at PrimoCiaoCiao. Husband brought a birthday gift namely the pattern-/yarnkit SAL, a design by Kim Hargreaves.
Igår fick jag också en inbjudan till Ravelry. Har ju gått ett tag och funderat på om jag skulle göra en rejäl inventering av mina garner. Och kanske kan just Ravelry vara svaret på detta? Någon som har erfarenhet av Ravelry?

Yesterday I got an invitation to Ravelry. I've been thinking a while about doing an inventory of my stash. Perhaps Ravelry is the answer to this? Anyone's gotten some experience of Ravelry?
Tack vare tips i kommentarerna av bertrandfelix har jag nu beställt Norah Gaughans nya mönsterhäfte som visst ska skeppas inom två veckor. Många av designen använder ett merinogarn som väldigt mycket liknar fyndprisgarnet Jaeger Extra Fine Merino Aran, till stickfasthet och längd, och finns hos Cucumberpatch UK. Nåja, vi får se man behöver ju inte alltid handla på rea.

Due to a tip in the comments by bertrandfelix I've now ordered Norah Gaughans new pattern leaflet which will be shipped within two weeks. Many of the designs are for a merinoyarn that very much resembles of Jaeger Extra Fine Merino Aran, when it comes to gauge and length, and which can be found cheaply at Cucumberpatch UK. Well we'll see, one doesn't always have to buy yarn on sale.

Fashioknitta!

Nu är jag äntligen redo att göra stan med min färdigfixade väska. Snabbstickad var den, och snyggt blev det. Lite fix på slutet kanske men nu har den en kraftig innerväska i linne och en dragkedja för att hålla kleptomaner borta.

Now I'm redy to hit town with my finished knitted bag. It was a fast knit and turned out really beautiful. There where some fixing in the end but now it has a strong innerbag in linen and a zipper to keep klepots away.
Jag är speciellt förtjust i Norah Gaughans designstil. Knitting Nature finns på stickbokshyllan sedan tidigare. Nu har Norah kommit ut med ett mönsterhäfte med hög "vill-ha"-faktor. Den säljs via Berrocos hemsida, men .... ja men ... skeppas inte till Europa. Verkligen trist alltså...

I'm very fond of Norah Gaughans designs. Knitting Nature has been on my knitting book shelf a while. Now Norah is out with a new pattern leaflet with a high "want-to-have"-factor. You can buy it through Berrocos webpage, but only if you live in US, Canada or Colombia... Damn, damn!

So much yarn and so little time!

Kan inte påstå att jag känner mig hemma i min roll som arbetande småbarnsmamma. En knapp månad har gått sen jag började jobba. Men det är ett bryskt uppvaknande att inse att det där mysiga gosiga familjelivet är så begränsat numera. Från att jag kommer hem strax efter barnens middag är det fullt ös, när sista energin ska få sitt utlopp, innan det strax är sovdags för barnen. Om jag inte somnar med barnen, sitter jag sen undrande framför datorn och saknar mina små. Eller vattnar blommor. (Se hur mina pelargoner har växt sedan sist.)

I can't say I feel comfortable with my new role as working small childrens mama. Less than a month has passed since I started to work. And it is a harse awakening to realise that the cozy homy family life is so limited. From that I come home shortly after the kids dinner it is full speed, when the last bits of energy needs to be channeled out, before it's time to go to bed. If I don't fall asleep with them, I'm sitting confused afterwards in front of the computer missing my small ones. Or watering flowers. (See how my pelarones has grew since last time.)

Det är 18 minuters resetid med tunnelbanan till jobbet, och det inkluderar dessutom ett tågbyte. Men den här innebär dyrbar sticktid och avkoppling för mig. En och annan rad hinns ju faktiskt med innan det är dags promenera sista biten till jobbet på Karlaplan. Idag maskade jag av sista ärmen på min Nevis. Näst upp är att sy ihop delarna och sen börja sticka på knappborden/kragen.

It's 18 minutes travel time with the subway to work, though it includes changing trains once. But, this means precious knitting time and relaxation for me. Well, I actually manage to knit a few rows, until it's time to walk the last bit to the office at Karlaplan. Today I cast off the last arm on my Nevis. Next up is to sewing up the pieces and then to start knitting on the button board/collar.

Varvar ner på kvällen gör jag bäst genom att läsa stickbloggar jag prenumererar på via bloglines. En av mina personliga favoriter just nu är Vifslan Knits, där Vifslan presenterar sina med god stil valda stickprojekt. En sann inspiration. Hon stickar för närvarande på den supereleganta Dawn. Jag vill, jag med!

Best way to come into a relaxed mood in the evenings is to read through knitting blogs I subscribe to via bloglines. One of my personal favourites right now is Vifslan Knits, where Vifslan presents her excellent choise of knitting projects. A true inspiration. Currently she's knitting on the super stylish Dawn. I want, me too!

Bye Grandma - and haunt nicely please!

Barnens gammelmormor, och min finska mummi Tellervo, gick bort förra söndagen efter en lång tid av smärtor och demens de senaste åren. I fredags kväll begav vi oss till det vemodiga landet i öster för ett sista farväl. Båtresan, enda konstadsmässiga alternativet på så kort varsel, till Finland inleddes storartat för Anthea. Hon fick möta muumintrollet, snacka med honom och gav honom massor av kramar. Därefter var det bussen som gällde eftersom tågen var i någon sorts strejk. Tre timmar till Tammerfors och efter ceremonin tre timmar tillbaka till båten. Trots lång bussfärd blev endast några rader stickat, eftersom mesta tiden gick till att sysselsätta en pigg och aktiv tjejj.

My Finnish grandma Tellervo passed away last Sunday after a long time of pains and demensia the last years. This Friday evening we went to the land of melancholy for a last good bye. The boat trip, which was the only reasonable alternative cost wise on such a short notice, started grandly for Anthea. She met Moomin, talked to him and gave him lots of hugs. After the boat trip we took the bus, since the trains where in some sort of strike. Three hours to Tampere and after the ceremonny three hours back to the boat. Not much knitting any ways mostly due to the need of keeping a little active lady happy.
Igår, strax före begravningstillfället, satt Anthea och jag på trappavsatsen framför kistan och pratade om gammelmormor. Anthea verkade inte ha några problem att förstå att gammelmormor verkligen var i kistan. Hon konstaterade helt sakligt och upprepade ett antal gånger att så var fallet. Därefter undrade hon lite trevande om det kanske kunde vara så att gammelmormor är i slottet gomorron sol och är spöke. Hmmm ... säg, är det inte en intressant koppling för en liten tjejj på två år och åtta månader.

Yesterday, half an hour before the funeral ceremony, Anthea and I sat on the step near the coffin and talked about grandma. Anthea seemed to have no problem understanding that grandma actually's laying in the coffin. She stated objectively and repeated several times that this was the case. Then she wondered fumblingly if it possibly could be so that she now is in the castle of good morning sun (this is the castle in the adventures of the cute ghost Laban) and is being a ghost. Weeell, isn't that an interesting coupling from a little girl of two years and eight months.

Travel knitting

Senaste tidens jobbsökeri och intervjuer har (redan) resulterat i nytt jobb, sedan en vecka. Numera är avkopplande stickning begränsad till resor till och från jobbet. Den spännande reseföljetongen är Nevis som än så länge består av ett bakstycke och två framstycken.

Job searching and interviews has (already) resulted in a new job, since one week. Nowadays relaxing knitting is limited to the trips to and from work. The exciting travel project is Nevis which so far consists of one back and two front pieces.

På kvällarna blir det snarare lek och gos med barnen. Till den grad att jag nattat dem nästan varje kväll, och givetvis somnat med dem. Efter långa diskussioner med Anthea.

In the evenings there is rather playing and snuggling with the kids. To the extent that I've done the putting to bed almost every night, and of course fallen asleep with them. After long discussions with Anthea.

I morse var det märkligt tyst i hennes rum. Det var den mer kreativa Anthea som höll på att skapa en underbar Cirkus-installationen. Förmodligen med Skansens karuseller som förebild.

This morning it was strangely silent a while from her room. It was the more creative Anthea who was in the action of creating a wonderful Cirkus installation. Probably with the carousells of Skansen as a model.

Brown Ene

Idag efter lunch var det perfekt att svepa Ene över axlarna under söndagspromenaden. Den åkte dock strax av på grund av den efterlängtade solen och värmen.

Today after lunch I found it perfect to wrap myself up with Ene on our Sunday promenade. But soon it went off due to the eagerly awaited sun and warmth.
Ene är ett hyffsat lätt sticke. Första 'delen' av sjalen tog väldigt lång tid, men sen upplevde jag att det gick fortare i takt med att raderna blev kortare allt snabbare. Den avslutande blockningen gjorde verkligen under med sjalen.

This is pretty simple knit. First 'part' of the shawl took very long time to work through, but then I felt it went faster as the rows became increasingly shorter. The finishing blocking really made wonders with the shawl.
Jag gillar verkligen slutresultatet! Det är ett fantastiskt och ovanligt mönster i sitt slag. Färgvalet kompletterar min garderob perfekt så den kommer säkert komma till stor användning. Antingen knuten runt halsen eller fästad med fin nål.

I really like the end-result! It is a fantastic and unusual pattern in it's kind. The colour choice complements my wardrobe perfectly so it's surely going to come to great use. Either knot around the neck or fastened with a pin
Mitt nya koftprojekt, som jag hintade om i förra posten, är Nevis i Rowanspun Chunky. Färgen är 'gran' som är härligt grön med röda och blåa prickar i. Det var när jag såg Nevis hos Le chat-bus som insåg jag vilken snygging till kofta det här är.

My new cardi project, which I hinted about in the previous post, is Nevis in Rowanspun Chunky by Kim Hargreaves from A Seasons Tale. The colour 'fern' is gorgeously green with red and blue freckles in it. It was when I saw Nevis at Le chat-bus that I realized what a handsome cardi this is.

Missoni Man

Har varit på ett stort antal jobbintervjuer senaste tiden och några har varit andra intervjun på samma ställe. Intervjuprocesserna inom IT verkar vara långrandiga. Så jag harvar på, nästa vecka är ytterligare ett antal intervjuer inplanerade.

Have been to a lot of interviews lately and a few of has been the second interview at the same place. The interview processes within IT seems to be really lengthy. So I keep on doing this, next week a few more interviews are planned.

Missonihalsduken är äntligen klar och det var sannerligen många ändar att väva in. Men det var det värt. Maria påpekade mycket klokt ett tag sedan att med ett udda antal rader av varje färg väver man snyggast in trådarna på varannan sida vid varannan färgväxling. (Ujj, hängde du med i min knasiga långa mening?) Men det var en bra bit in på halsduken, så istället har jag följt mönstret i Scarf Style. Alla trådar har således vävts in på samma sida, men trots detta har halsdukens utseende inte påverkats särskilt negativt. Som tur är!

The Missoni scarf is finally done. There was truly a lot of ends to weave in. But it was all worth it. Maria hinted wisely a while ago that with an uneven number of rows of every colour ends are weaved in on different sides every other colour change. Huh, did you make it through this odd and long sentence? This advice came when I was one third through this scarf, so instead I've been following the pattern in Scarf Style. Thus all ends are weaven in on the same side, but it didn't affect the finished scarf that much. Luckily!

Hur många sätt kan man bära en halsduk? Min Missoniman verkar i alla fall mycket nöjd men sin färggranna halsduk, och har redan hittat en handfull olika sätt att svira den om halsen. Ja, jag tycker givetvis att han är mycket stilig i sin nya halsduk!

How many ways are there to wear a scarf? My Missoni man has already found a handful different ways and seems very satisfied with this colourful scarf. I think, of course, that he's very handsome wearing it!

Farfar har varit hos oss drygt tre veckor och speciellt Leo, som är en minikopia av farfar, har fått umgås mycket med honom, vilket varit en enorm avlastning för pappalediga faderskapet.

Grandfather has been at our place for over three weeks now and especially Leo, who's a real 'mini me' of grandfather, has spent a lot of time with him. He's been a great support for the fatherhood on paternity leave.

Ene är nu färdigstickad och alldeles nyblockad. Barnens megapussel från farbror var till mycket stor nytta. Nu ska jag bara väva in trådarna och prova den.

Ene is now off the needles and just blocked. Childrens mega puzzle from their uncle was of really great use. Now I'll just weave in ends and try it on.

Jag har verkligen försökt komma igång med massor av tröjj- och koftprojekt senaste tiden utan framgång. Men nu tror jag faktiskt att jag har något på gång som kanske kan bli något. Men mer om det nästa gång jag skriver.

Have tried to start a lot of new sweater- and cardigan projects lately without any success. Now I actually think I've found something that in fact could be something really nice! But more about that next time I write.
